How it works

Select text

Highlight a sentence, a paragraph or a whole message in any app.

Press the shortcut

Cmd+Shift+O on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+O on Windows. A small popup opens next to your work.

Choose an action

Rewrite, translate, fix the grammar, or type your own instruction.

Replace

Check the result, then replace the original text in place.

OntuLingo captures the text you selected, shows the result, and replaces it in place. No copy and paste between windows.

Translate into 28 languages

A searchable list that includes Hindi, Hinglish, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, Arabic, Spanish and Japanese.

Custom instructions

Type what you want, for example “make this suitable for WhatsApp”.

Notes in [square brackets]

Write a note in square brackets inside your selection. OntuLingo follows it as an instruction and leaves it out of the result.

Review before replacing

See the original next to the AI result, then Replace, Copy, Retry or Edit. Retry gives a different version, and you can refine a result again: Professional, then Shorten.

Ask mode

Press the shortcut with nothing selected and you get a prompt bar to write from scratch.

Attach, paste or drop an image to extract its text or ask a question about it.

Choose your AI

Run Local AI on your own device, or use your own API key for Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude.

OntuLingo shows the original and the AI result together. Nothing in your document changes until you choose Replace.

OntuLingo does not store your text. You decide where it is processed.

Local AI

Private · works offline

The model runs on your own computer through Ollama. Your text never leaves the device, and it keeps working without an internet connection. 8 GB of RAM is recommended.

Your own API key

Use your own key for Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude. Your text goes to the provider you picked, under your account with them.

API keys are kept in the macOS Keychain or the Windows Credential Manager, not in a settings file.

Frequently asked

Is it free during the preview?

Yes. There is no billing in the preview. If you connect your own API key, your AI provider may charge you for usage under your account with them. Local AI has no usage cost.

Does it work offline?

With Local AI, yes: the model runs on your computer through Ollama. If you use your own API key, OntuLingo needs an internet connection to reach that provider.

Is my text stored?

No. OntuLingo does not store your text. With Local AI the text never leaves your computer. With your own API key, the text is sent to the provider you chose so it can produce the result.

Which AI does it use?

You choose. Local AI runs on your device through Ollama. Or add your own API key for Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic Claude.

Why is it “on request”?

OntuLingo is at version 0.1.0 and the Windows build is still being tested. Sending it on request lets us stay in touch with the people trying it, hear what breaks and tell them about new builds.
